Coming in 2024

I know it’s been a very long time between releases. We’re a one-author press and that author – me – has had quite a few ups and downs over the past few years, seriously impacting on writing time. However, there will be more books!

The next (long-awaited) book in the Hartdale Brides series will be released this year. Here’s a brief blurb:

A Spy’s Honor

Exiled to the convict settlement of New South Wales, Lucy Shelbourne fears for her life. Sent to find her, David Penry must discover if she is a traitor or not. But can Lucy trust a man with so many secrets of his own?

Also coming this year are US editions of my first three gritty romantic thrillers, set in Australia’s outback – As Darkness Falls, Dark Country, and Darkening Skies.

More information and cover reveals to come soon!

The Clothier’s Daughter

Bronwyn Parry’s new book, The Clothier’s Daughter, is a gripping story of romance and suspense, set in Yorkshire in 1816, and is her first historical novel. It’s set for release from the major ebook distributors on Thursday, 11th July, and will also be available in print by the end of July. You can find and preorder the ebook at your preferred online bookseller here.

About the book:

In the unusually wet summer of 1816, Emma Braithwaite struggles to keep her family’s traditional wool cloth manufacturing company afloat. Her father has died, her brother is missing, and the new cotton factories are spreading, rendering the fine worsted fabrics the Braithwaites have made for generations, expensive and unfashionable. Being a woman in a man’s world of trade is challenging enough, but when her warehouse catches fire it brings her only a step away from financial ruin and debtor’s prison.

After eight years of war, Major Adam Caldwell is returning for the first time to his family home, Rengarth Castle, when he stops to assist at a warehouse fire … and comes face-to-face with the woman he once loved and lost. Despite all his efforts to forget her, in truth she’s never been far from his thoughts. He was unworthy of her then, and even more so now.

But as the threats against Emma escalate, they discover that someone wants control of Emma’s family company and is prepared to murder anyone in the way of getting it – including Emma.

The Clothier’s Daughter is the first book in Bronwyn’s new historical series, The Hartdale Brides.

In the beginning . . .

Firetail Press is in its very early stages of development. We’re based in rural New South Wales, Australia. We’ve established this press to independently publish some quality fiction and some other non-fiction works.

We’re not planning to become a major publishing business, so at this stage we’re not inviting submissions from other authors.

Our business is named after the little Firetail Finches that we love watching around our place. They’re tiny, they fly around in small flocks, and they chirp and chatter and delight us. They flit around very quickly, though, and are hard to photograph – but here’s one on our birdbath, photographed through the window:

Firetail Finch on the birdbath

We’re not planning on being a big business, or having a major impact on the publishing scene, but just like the Firetail Finches, we hope our books will delight you.

We’ll update the website when there’s more to announce.
